La revista
The Puerto Rico Review busca vincular. Vincular el presente con sus pasados, espacios geográficos cercanos y remotos, reunir lo que alguna vez estuvo junto o ha permanecido separado, acercar lo invisible a lo visible. Crear un espacio de reunión para los escritores puertorriqueños dispersos entre la isla, los Estados Unidos y otros países. Reunión también de voces de todo el Caribe. Y del Caribe con otras partes.
Es una revista bianual de letras, crítica y artes en los pasos de la tradición de los "review". Además de cumplir el rol tradicional de este tipo de revista, nos interesa en particular llevar al extremo la idea revisionista sugerida en la idea de "review". Se trata de volver a mirar, re-visitar, las letras y las artes (puertorriqueñas). Proveer un foro para generar miradas frescas a obras clásicas u olvidadas de las letras y las artes. Puerto Rico bajo review.
Nos interesa sobre todo la nueva literatura que de alguna u otra manera busque entrar en juego con obras (puertorriqueñas) del pasado. Respecto de la crítica literaria, buscamos aquella que explore formas rigurosas del ensayo no académico. También somos un espacio que promueve la traducción de obras literarias que no se hayan traducido antes o que sería importante volver a traducir y editar. Valoramos la reseña de libros como una función fundamental de la revista y nos interesan las reseñas tradicionales así como aquellas que se arriesguen a jugar con la crítica literaria. Queremos, también, ser un espacio para la diseminación de material de archivo. Junto a la literatura, nuestras páginas están abiertas al análisis y la reflexión sobre temas políticos y sociales, (nuevas) artes visuales, (nueva) música, reseñas de cine y deportes.

The Puerto Rico Review seeks to link. To link the present to its pasts, geographical spaces both distant and nearby, to (re)unite what used to be together or what has remained separate, to bring the invisible closer to the visible. To create a meeting space for Puerto Rican writers dispersed between the Island, the US, and other countries. A meeting of voices from all over the Caribbean. Between the Caribbean and other places.
It is a biannual journal of literature, criticism, and art in the tradition of the “review.” More than just filling the established role of this kind of journal, we are interested in taking the revisionist idea suggested in the concept of a “review” to its extreme. That is, to look again, to re-visit, (Puerto Rican) literature and the arts. To provide a forum that generates renewed perspectives of classic or forgotten works of literature and art. Puerto Rico under review.
We are most interested in new literature that in some way searches to engage with (Puerto Rican) works of the past. As for literary criticism, we are looking for rigorous explorations of the non-academic essay. We are a space that promotes the translation of literary works that have not yet been translated or that merit re-translation and publication. We value the book review as a fundamental function of the journal, both traditional reviews and those that challenge and play with the role of the literary critic. We are also a space for the distribution of archival material. In addition to literature, our pages are open to the analysis of and reflection on issues relating to politics and society, (new) visual arts, (new) music, film, and sports.
